Job success for Yoshi through p242

“I was really lucky for my brother to introduce me to the Wirrpanda Foundation. If someone is Indigenous and needs employment one hundred percent go with the Wirrpanda Foundation, it just makes the whole process easier and there’s a community feeling that’s good.”

After graduating high school and in need of a job, Yoshi followed his brother’s advice and came in for chat with one of our employment mentors. He was connected to Ben who was quick to see Yoshi as job ready, and with his pre-prepared resume they began the job hunt straight away.

“Ben was the first person that was getting my resumes to all the job opportunities, and it was really cool, because it was so easy.” Going over the work that was currently available Yoshi selected the most interesting ones and Ben got in touch with the employers. It wasn’t long before Yoshi was getting interviews with employers, which he was able to do at the Wirrpanda Foundation.

Out of all his options Yoshi chose to go with Sparrows Group, a global provider of specialist equipment and integrated engineering services to the energy and industrial sector. “You get more hands on here, spending most of the day in the workshop, and on the computer for a little bit.” Having begun as a Trainee Inspector 3 months ago, Yoshi has made great progress in the Perth office and is expecting to transition to a FIFO role with greater responsibilities.

“They’re definitely the future and from what the more experienced trainees have said, Sparrows Group has looked after them,” Yoshi said discussing his career path. Connecting our participants to employers who foster an environment allowing them to thrive is a huge target for our employment team.

Congratulations to Yoshi for making the first steps towards a successful career in a growing industry, we’re looking forward to seeing the rest of your employment journey with Sparrows Group.
