Arc Driving Opportunities for DSG
A big thank you to Arc Infrastructure for their donation of a van for our Deadly Sista Girlz at Halls Head College!
Arc Infrastructure General Manager Works Delivery and Arc Aboriginal Engagement Initiative Executive sponsor, Dan Ellis and Communications Advisor and Aboriginal Engagement Community and Partnerships Lead, Brooke Brooks, visited Halls Head College to present the van to the girls.
DSG mentor, Tahleshja, gave Dan and Brooke a tour of the DSG classroom and facilities, including some of the amazing artwork from the students. They then got to catch up with some DSG students and chat about what activities they have been getting up to in the program. The girls are very excited about their new van and can’t wait to use it for upcoming DSG excursions and trips.
The van has already clocked up some miles for our Waalitj Cup which took place early this month. Tahleshja has also used the van for some after school drop-offs.
“We have already gotten a lot of use out of the new Deadly Sista Girlz bus,” Tahleshja said.
“We’ve been able to take the girls to excursions and events such as the annual Waalitj Cup and it affords me the flexibility to safely take the girls home if required.”
We are proud to partner with Arc Infrastructure to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, job seekers and businesses to thrive.
Speaking on our partnership with Arc Infrastructure Troy Cook, our General Manager for Community Development said, “We appreciate Arc Infrastructure purchasing a van for the Deadly Sista Girlz location at Halls Head through our partnership. With Arc’s support, the Waalitj Foundation Deadly Sista Girlz program will be able to improve school attendance and education attainment amongst First Nations girls in the Southwest.”
Deadly Sista Girlz is a culturally-appropriate program designed to improve school attendance and education attainment amongst First Nations girls operating in 18 schools across Australia. DSG is supported by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, with support from corporate partners. Find out more.
