The 2018 Wirrpanda Foundation Annual Fundraising Dinner was held in October with 330 guests attended our special event at the State Reception Centre at Fraser’s, Kings Park.
This year’s event drew inspiration from the 2018 National NAIDOC theme “Because of Her, We Can” which paid tribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and celebrated the immeasurable contribution they have made and continue to make to our nation. Featuring an all-female, all-Indigenous entertainment line-up and a special focus on our Deadly Sista Girlz program.
Highlights of the night included hearing from Wirrpanda Foundation mentors, Josie Janz-Dawson, Jarrad Oakley Nicholls, Ashlea Oakley Nicholls and Chance Bateman, Entertainment from singer Duana Nickels, dancer Brianne Yarran and contemporary soul duo The Merindas and hearing from actor and comedian Peter Rowsthorn about his time on “I’m a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here” and why he selected the Wirrpanda Foundation as his chosen charity.
We would like to extend a massive thank you to our incredible major sponsors, who year after year continue to support us and make this event a possibility: Fraser's Restaurant, Rohan Jewellery, Juniper, Margaret River, West Coast Eagles, European Foods, Matso's and Event Services & Productions! Also a big thank you to everybody who so generously donated and supported the night, helping us raise over $90,000!
