After discussions with the high school students and Aboriginal AIEOs Sam painted large-scale birds around the school in celebration of the week - Warlawurru (Eagle), Nyii Nyii (little finch), Wiluru, Pardarda (Bush Turkey) ,Piyarrku (cockatoo), Watlawuru, Tjaraltji (bower bird), Karlaya (emu), Tjaratapalpal Kurumitji (crested pigeon).

Our “Wirra Schools” Remote School Attendance Strategy program, run in Wiluna is aimed at improving school attendance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children by working with families and the local community to ensure attendance and retention at school.

Wiluna based mentors Stacey and KP engage local community members and services to work together to overcome barriers to regular school attendance by facilitating rewards based visits from other Wirrpanda Foundation mentors, sporting competitions, hosting community events and supporting families with daily responsibilities.

RSAS is kindly supported by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
