Deloitte's Donation

We have some amazing news to start the year off with Deloitte Australia generously donating $20,000 to the Foundation through the Deloitte Wishing Well.

Here on Team Wirra, one of our favourite things about the work we do is seeing participants who have transitioned out of our programs go on to achieve great things. This incredibly generous donation will support our Deadly Sista Girlz program, enabling us to provide additional mentoring to some of our former Deadly Sista Girlz participants who have relocated to Perth from regional Western Australia to further their education opportunities.

In 2019, we have former Deadly Sista Girlz participants from Broome who are headed to Perth to begin University and students from Onslow who will be commencing high school.

Wirrpanda Foundation Education Programs Manager Josie Janz Dawson said the Foundation is very thankful for the donation.

“We are greatly appreciative of the Wishing Well donation towards the Deadly Sista Girlz Program in 2019. We have 3 DSG participants from Onslow who have accepted scholarships to attend Aranmore Catholic college and 3 DSG participants who have recently graduated from St Mary’s College in Broome and will be studying at UWA and Curtin University.

“Each of these girls have taken an active role in their own development and have a voluntary commitment to their learning and initiating positive self-development. This donation will allow us to continue to mentor the participants through their transitional period and support them in their move away from home and country.

“We hope that we can continue to work alongside these girls to build their leadership as strong role models so in the future they can make a personal contribution to the quality and sustainability of the communities to which they belong.”

The Deloitte Wishing Well is one of the choices in firm’s dollar-matched workplace giving program, where staff donations are pooled and distributed periodically to one or more of their workplace giving family of charities by a committee.

Thank you Deloitte!
