Family Background: Koori Woman - Brown/Donovan
Career Highlights: I have had the opportunity to start in the Bidi Waalitj Program, a partnership between West Coast Eagles, where I helped in creating a brand new youth initiative. With experience in ESS, I moved across to the Transition to Work Program and mentored participants aged 15-21 into employment or education. I am now in the VTEC Employment Program.
Job Role: VTEC Employment Mentor
Location: Wirrpanda Foundation Head Office, Cannington.
Describe a typical days work at the Foundation: My day starts replying to emails, a coffee and checking my calendar for my the day ahead. On a typical day, I will meet with participants, employers and job actives. I will write a few resumes, even more emails and a couple of job applications for the VTEC Participants.
Favourite part of being a mentor: Changing people lives for the better. Giving them an opportunity that they may not of received otherwise. Helping people establish where they want to be in their career path and working alongside them to accomplish their goals.
