Growing businesses in the Goldfields

Waalitj Foundation staff were invited to the Goldfields earlier this month to share expertise, connect with Aboriginal business owners and forge new relationships in the Goldfields.

Waalitj Hub General Manager Shane Devitt, Business Coach Gohar Rind visited the Foundation’s offices in Kalgoorlie and Leonora before traveling to Leinster in the Northern Goldfields.

135 kilometres north of Leonora, Leinster sits on Tjiwarl Country, administered by the Tjiwarl Aboriginal Corporation, native title holders for 13,000 km² of Country, acting on behalf of hundreds of members.

Waalitj Hub took part in a community day held by Tjiwarl Aboriginal Corporation and BHP, following on from the former’s Annual General Meeting, which brought hundreds of members together to Leinster.

Our Business Mentors spoke with dozens of current and prospective business owners, signing up new clients and forging connections with community members looking to develop their business capacity in marketing, contracting, stakeholder engagement and recruitment.
