Koormal Group are a leading Indigenous Western Australian service provider for civil and construction projects in the commercial, mining and government sectors. 

They plan, design, manage and deliver projects of varying scales and provide a range of solutions that support the resource, infrastructure, energy, government and industrial sectors. 

Proud Ballardong Noongar man, Gavin McGuire, is the Owner and Managing Director of Koormal Group. Along with his business partner and General Manager, Mike Jones, they have a combined experience of over 50 years in the construction industry and have built strong alliances and working relationships with leading service providers across Australia. 

Koormal Group have been a Waalitj Hub client since 2018 when their company was founded. They have been supported in a range of areas including marketing, legal advice, networking, one on one mentorship from our business coaches, and to acquire their second business, Bodmec Maintenace Solutions. 

Talking on the impact of the Waalitj Hub for Koormal Group, Mike said, “The impact they have had so far, across the board, has been great, but they were an instrumental part of us acquiring our second business, Bodmec. We probably wouldn’t be able to do it without their support.” 

Through the Waalitj Hub, Indigenous businesses, like Koormal Group, have access to a wide range of free services, including office facilities, mentoring from business coaches, industry connections, and independent professional services. Clients can receive specialised support in key business areas like tendering, marketing, and legal. 

Koormal Group’s Business Development Associate, Cassidy, said “Waalitj will tailor make services to what your requirements are, so it’s not just a box fit that everyone gets shoved into, they listen to you as a business and what your needs and requirements are. They are able to then find the right people or give you the right information that you need to be able to succeed and grow your business”  

Gavin said having a place like the Hub has been great for Koormal Group, to have a place to go where they feel welcome and can ask to ask for help.
