DSG Kmart NAIDOC Display

Champion Bay Senior Highschool DSG had the exciting opportunity to display their artwork at Kmart Geraldton. Items including denim jackets, sneakers, cushion covers, handbags and home items were included.  The students demonstrated creativity in their artwork and displayed a range of different colours and aesthetics. Kmart Geraldton have been extremely supportive of the DSG program for the past couple of years, kindly donating products for the students to work on in their spare time.

Deadly Sista Girlz is a culturally-appropriate program designed to improve school attendance and education attainment amongst First Nations girls. The program is led by strong First Nations role models who empower participants to make informed decisions about their health, education and future careers. 

Not only do the mentors help educate the students, but they also are a shoulder to lean on in difficult times. Deadly Sista Girlz ensures that there is cultural security in the school, providing a room and space to feel at home. The program also focuses on building self-esteem and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity. Educating the girls on women’s health, drug and alcohol awareness, road safety, healthy nutrition, and healthy relationships.

Deadly Sista Girlz is a holistic education, empowerment and healthy lifestyle program for Indigenous girls operating in 18 schools across Australia. DSG is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, with support from corporate partners. Find out more.
